Arrival in Kathmandu.

Nepal Holi Tour Itinerary starts today when you arrive at Kathmandu airport. We will be there to pick you up and transfer you to the hotel. Once you reach and check into a hotel, you will have free time to relax so that you adjust yourself to Kathmandu atmosphere far away from your home. You can take some wanderings around. We will be giving you some guidance on how to do that if you feel the need of.

It is a full exploration day in Kathmandu. We take you for a cultural sightseeing tour of Heritage monuments in Kathmandu valley. We go for an in-depth and guided tour of Swoyambhunath – the ancient most Buddhist stupa in Kathmandu valley; Patan Durbar Square – one of the medieval palace squares in the valley; Pashupatinath - the most important Hindu temple premises with Hindu cremation site; and Boudhanath – the biggest Buddhist stupa in the world.
The day will give you an understanding of the rich cultural, spiritual and historical heritage of
Kathmandu valley.

We are on a long driving journey to Pokhara today. The drive by tourist bus that starts early morning will be of more or less 7 hours before we reach Pokhara. Although the drive seems long, it will bring us beautiful scenic landscapes and local towns along the highway. Driving along beautiful glacial rivers, local towns and enjoying greenery and surrounding middle hills is an incredible experience. Pokhara will welcome us with jaw-dropping view of Annapurna range of the Himalayas, beautiful and peaceful green surroundings and a serene lake.

Our day starts really early in the morning to go for a sunrise tour. We drive for about half hour to Sarangkot to enjoy a spectacular view of Annapurna Himalayan range and a beautiful sunrise over them. After enjoying mountain views and sunrise, we drive back down to hotel in Pokhara to have our breakfast. Nepal Holi tour excitement starts now as the celebration of Holi festival begins. Walking on the street in groups; greeting each other; smearing colors on each other; wishing each other a happy Holi makes the moment exciting. The whole town and the street will be in celebration mode. Later in the afternoon, after Holi celebration, we have a half day sightseeing tour of Pokhara that takes us to Lake Fewa boating trip, Daivs falls, Gupteswor cave, Tibetan refugee camp visit.

Nepal Holi tour observes the 2 nd day of Holi festival celebration but in the southern part of Nepal. Chitwan lies in that region and we will be able to see and participate in the celebration there. About four hours of drive takes us there to observe this amazing cultural festival on its go.

We will have a full day of jungle safari activities in Chitwan that will include elephant ride, canoe ride, jungle walk, and visit to elephant breeding center. The jungle safari activities will bring us chance to witness different wildlife like rhinoceros, deer, wild boar, bison, crocodiles, different species of birds and Bengal tiger sometimes. We will also have chance to observe and indulge into the ethnic Tharu cultural show tonight.

After the holi celebration and jungle safari activities in Chitwan for two days, we are on the return trip to Kathmandu. About five hours of road trip takes us back to Kathmandu leaving us with some time to wander around at leisure when we reach there.

Nepal Holi Tour emphasis of Holi rituals is the burning of the demoness Holika. On the eve of Holi, large bonfires are lit to mark the occasion and to burn evil spirits. The Holi festival commemorates the victory of good over evil, brought about by the burning and destruction of the demoness named Holika. This was enabled through unwavering devotion to the Hindu god of preservation, Lord Vishnu.

Holi got its name as the "Festival of Colors" from Lord Krishna, a reincarnation of Lord Vishnu, who liked to play pranks on the village girls by drenching them in water and colors. The festival marks the end of winter and the abundance of the upcoming spring harvest season.
