Dhaulagiri Sanctuary Trekking is a newly opened trekking trail in the lap of the Dhaulagiri Himalayas Range. It is also known as Dhaulagiri South Base Camp Trek or Easy Dhaulagiri Base Camp Trekking. This Dhaulagiri Sanctuary Trekking is considered to be moderate to strenuous trekking in Nepal and hence the travelers or trekkers need a good physical endurance to walk for about 7/8 hours every day. This Dhaulagiri Sanctuary Trek is also short trek to Dhaulagiri Base Camp(South) at an elevation of 4050 m. Trekking trail to Dhaulagiri Sanctuary passes from Jhi through the Gyasikharka, Phedi, and Odar camps then descending towards Chaari, Dagnam reaching Beni; the headquarters of Myagdi District. Beni was once popular as a trade route between Nepal and Tibet.

Itinerary

Day
1

Arrival in Kathmandu. Transfer to hotel in Kathmandu.

Dhaulagiri Sanctuary Trek itinerary day starts today. When you arrive at Kathmandu airport, we will be there to pick you up and transfer you to hotel.

Once you reach and check into hotel, you will have free time to relax so that you adjust yourself into Kathmandu atmosphere far away from your home. You can take some wanderings around. We will be giving you some guidance on how to do that if you feel the need of.

On the third day of Dhaulagiri sanctuary trek, we are driving to Pokhara today. The drive by tourist bus that starts early morning will be of more or less 7 hours before we reach Pokhara.
Although the drive seems long, it will bring us beautiful scenic landscapes and local towns along the highway.

Driving along beautiful glacial rivers, local towns and enjoying greenery and surrounding middle hills is an incredible experience. Pokhara will welcome us with jaw-dropping view of Annapurna range of the Himalayas, beautiful and peaceful green surroundings and a serene lake.

We are going to experience a wonderful high suspension bridge excursion today while driving to Beni for overnight stay. After driving for about 2.5 hours from Pokhara, we will come to the place where the highest suspension bridge in Nepal is situated over the Kali Gandaki River. We take a break there and go to cross the bridge. It is a fantastic feeling of crossing the bridge with the view of impressive Kali Gandaki River and the valley. Later, after exploring the bridge and surroundings, we drive to Beni to stay overnight. We will start our trekking tomorrow.

We are going to set our feet on the go today but only after two hours of off road drive. Our destination for the day is Jhi village where we will reach after about two hours of trekking journey. The first day of trekking is short but a nice start to the trekking adventure in the region. Even though we have a short distance to walk today, we will experience a good level of walking in the mountains of Nepal. We will have some time to explore around Jhi after reaching and checking into homestay. The homestay experience in Nepal is a wonderful opportunity to learn the local life style.

Adventure of Dhaulagiri sanctuary trek gets more exciting as we go higher in elevation and closer to the snow-capped mountains. We set off on the walking adventure for the day towards Ghyasikharka to stay overnight. About 7 hours of walk that passes through several beautiful places brings wonderful views in the surroundings. Peaceful nature, fresh air and incredible surroundings make this long day walk an easy task. As we walk further, we enjoy the wonders that come along. We are going to experience another wonderful homestay tonight in Ghyasikharka.

A fresh morning start of the adventure walk to Phedi camp is going to keep us engaged for the day. From today’s destination upward, we are going to use tented camp stay up to Dhaulagiri base camp. The walk today is a beautiful experience of walking through the rugged mountains amidst nature and spectacular views. Six hours of traversing the mountain trekking trail takes us to Phedi camp to stay overnight. As our tents are being set up, we can wander around and explore the surroundings.

We are all set for a seven hours walking journey on the trekking trail from Phedi camp to Odar camp today. The 7 th day of Dhaulagiri sanctuary trek is going take us even closer to Mt. Dhaulagiri and several other mountain peaks in the region. While walking to Odar camp today, the trail will bring us beautiful landscapes and views to our sight. Once we reach the destination, we can explore the place as our overnight camps get ready to settle in.

On the adventure walk today, we reach the southern base camp of Mt. Dhaulagiri (8,167m) – the seventh highest mountain in the world. The Himalayan view that we see from along the way will keep us walk towards the base camp to spend our overnight. The walk will be as long as eight hours but pretty well worth walk for those long hours. Being at the base camp of one of the highest mountain on earth is definitely a mind blowing experience. Standing at the elevation of 4,055 meters above sea level and watching the grand vista of mountains is definitely breathtaking. We enjoy our time at the base camp at our best as we spend overnight here.

We have reached the destination of this trip at Dhaulagiri base camp. From today onwards, we will be on our return journey. We are tracing the trekking trail back down to Chhari today after spending quite memorable time at the base camp. It’s another quite long trekking day that takes us around eight hours to reach Chhari. Once we reach the destination, we wander leisurely around the place.

We are on the last day of trekking part on the Dhaulagiri sanctuary trek itinerary. The trekking trail that we traverse today will be the final section for us on foot. We are trekking to a beautiful place called Dagnam to stay overnight today. About seven hours of walk takes us to Dagnam village where we stay with a homestay experience. The final day of homestay will give us a wonderful experience of local culture and life style.

We are driving to Beni today. The drive is of about two hours along the off road. Once we reach Beni and check into hotel, we will have time to go out and explore the town.

We drive back to Kathmandu from Beni today. About 10 hours of long overland journey will take us back to Kathmandu. Once we reach Kathmandu, rest of the time is at leisure. We take our easy time to relax.

After the big adventure to the Dhaulagiri base camp and in the Dhaulagiri region, we are taking an easy day to relax and reflect on the wonders of trekking. Take a full day at leisure. You might like to go for some souvenir shopping or might like to explore more of Kathmandu. In that case, let us know. We will organize whatever you need.

As the final day of Dhaulagiri sanctuary trek, it’s time to say good bye. We will transfer you to airport for your final departure flight as per your flight schedule.
