Mohare Danda Khopra Trek 2024 - Ridge Viewpoint Trekking in Nepal
This Mohare Danda Khopra Trek is a Community trek that starts from Kathmandu with a drive to Pokhara, 200 km. It is another 91 km from Pokhara to Beni Bazaar, from where the actual part of the trekking begins. Since the trek package is a combination of two awesome destinations, the first one we will track is for Mohare Danda (Hill). There are frequent descending and ascending trails that we will walk through. We will be crossing numerous villages, tiny-bitty settlements, ridges, and valleys, and most of the time through the forests. There will be community lodges or homestays that we will be checking into for our night stays throughout the trek.
At first, we will cross Kali Gandaki bridge and hike up the hill to Mallaj. Walking through the small villages and cultivated fields, we will reach Bas Kharka. The next day, we will proceed to Nagi or Nangi and finally to Mohare Danda at 3313 m. This will take 3-day trek to arrive here. Mohare Danda is towards the east of Beni.
Trail of Khopra Danda Trekking 2024
The second part of our trek is Khopra Danda (Hill), which is north from Mohare Danda at 3640 m. Once we leave Mohare, we will be passing through another beautiful and popular vantage point called Poonhill. There is a separate trekking package for Poonhill Trek as well. From Poonhill, we will trace towards Ghorepani and then to Swanta, a small village in a flat area between the high valleys. From Swanta, we will climb towards Upper Chistibang at Shika. After spending another night in Chistibang, we will hike up to Khopra Danda the next morning. Khopra is a hidden gem, a magnificent vantage point. The hilltop of Khopra offers so many unlimited views of the stunning panorama towards all directions. Khopra Danda is at 3640 m to the western base of the Annapurna South.
From Khopra Danda, we will climb up to Khayar Lake at 4660 m, a beautiful hidden lake on the slope of Annapurna South. We then head back to Khopra again. Our return trail will be tracking via Dobato to Tadapani and down towards Ghandruk. Ghandruk is another popular destination. The place is famous for the beauty and panorama that it offers. This is a village of courteous Gurung community members. After spending a night in Ghandruk, we hiked back down to Nayapul via Birethanti the next morning. At Nayapul, we will hop on our vehicle and drive back to Pokhara and Kathmandu the next day. Our Mohare Danda Khopra Community Trek package concludes after your return departure from Kathmandu.
Best Months for Mohare Danda Khopra Trek 2024
Mohare Danda Khopra Community Trek is a moderately rated trek. This trekking requires at least 5–6 hours of walking through the ascending and descending terrains along the off-road tails in high-altitudes. The optimum season for this trekking is during the Summer, Autumn, Spring and the months of September, October, November, December, March, April and May. However, it can enjoyed through out the year.
Mohare Danda Khopra Trek Itinerary
Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu.
Arrive at the Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu. After clearing immigration formalities and baggage clearance, meet and greet with our representative awaiting you outside the arrival gate. He will transfer you to the hotel in Kathmandu and assist you with your check-in formalities at the hotel. A short briefing session will be there regarding our tour program. Get refreshed and get some rest. Overnight at the hotel in Kathmandu.
Day 02: Drive Kathmandu to Pokhara.
After breakfast at the hotel, we will take a long ride via Prithivi Highway towards Pokhara. This 200-road trip is going to be around 6-7 hours of long, depending upon the road traffic. We will pull over en route for our lunch break. After arrival at Pokhara, we will check-in at the hotel and get refreshed with some rest. Overnight at the hotel in Pokhara.
Day 03: Pokhara drive to Beni Bas Kharka.
Breakfast at the hotel. Today is our first day of trekking, which will start from Beni Bazaar. But first, we will reach there via road trip from Pokhara and this will take around 4 hours of driving. Upon arrival, we will recheck our gears and backpack to get ready for the hike. The guide will lead the way and we will follow him. Today, it is going to be a short trek of around 4 hours only. This is going to be an ascending trek from Beni, crossing Kali Gandaki bridge, climbing for 1 hour to Mallaj and heading towards northeast to reach Baskharka at an elevation of 1525 meters. We will have our lunch en route in one of the villages. Our dinner and overnight stay at the homestay in Baskharka.

Day 4: Trek to Nangi.
After breakfast, we will continue our trek towards Nagi. The trail stretches along the beautiful landscapes and into the forest. Beautiful mountains can be viewed along the path. We will cross few settlements and in one village, we will take our lunch. After ascending and trekking for 5–6 hours, we will arrive at Nagi or Nangi to 2230 m. Our dinner and overnight stay at the community lodge in Nagi.
Day 05: Trek to Mohare (Hill) Danda (3313 m).
After breakfast, we will continue our trek towards Mohare Danda (Hill). The trail again passes, ascending along the forest and high terrain. Even though the destination seems close but the trail takes around 6-7 hours to reach uphill Mohare Danda towards east. Mohare Danda stands at 3313 m to the south of Poonhill, offering stunning views of Dhaulagiri, Annapurna South, Machhapuchhre, and more. Upon arrival, we will settle for the night in the community lodge at Mohare Danda.
Day 06: Trek to Swanta.
We continue our trek towards north after breakfast in the morning. Today, our destination is Swanta. We can reach Swanta via two routes, one is via Poonhill and Ghorepani, while the other is via Dandako Naak (Nose of the hill). The guide takes the updated route and will decide the most feasible way. The trail passes through the forests and sparsely dense settlements, downhill initially and uphill after crossing the bridge, taking us to the small village called Swanta at 2200 m. We will rest here at the community lodge.
Day 07: Trek to Upper Chistibung and continue to Khopra Danda (3,640 m).
After enjoying warm breakfast in the morning, we will continue our hike towards Upper Chistibung or Chistibang. We will take the trail along the ridge and descend down the valley to leave the Swanta valley and join the Shikha hill. Now, climb up continuously until we reach Upper Chistibung or Chistibang at 3000 m. There is a community lodge of Chistibang, we take our lunch and head uphill about 500 m, to Khopra Hill.
Arrive at Khopra Danda and we will catch our breath and settle for the night with dinner. Khopra Danda lies at the base of Annapurna South at 3640 m. Khopra Danda is one of the least popular vantage points that offers breathtaking views of the majestic Himalayas of the west like Dhaulagiri, Annapurna South, Machhapuchhre, Nilgiri south, and many more. The everlasting mysterious landscapes, hills, towns and settlements, the Kali Gandaki river, etc. can be viewed from this beautiful place
Day 08: Hike to Khayar Lake (4,660 m) (Highest point) and back to Khopra Danda.
Today, we will hike to Khayar Lake from our lodge. This high-altitude lake lies at 4,660 meters. After spending sometime at the Lake and enjoying the stunning view, we will hike back to Khopra Danda. Dinner and overnight at the community lodge in Khopra Danda.
Day 09: Trek from Khopra Danda to Dobato.
Today is the day of return. After breakfast in the morning, we will hit the trails again. But this time, we will take a different route towards Dobato. The trail descends through the valley and forests, trespassing few scattered settlements. Our trail never gets away from the mesmerizing view of the landscapes and the mountains, especially Annapurna South. Arriving at Dobato at 3,420 m, we will settle in for the night with dinner at the teahouse.
Day 10: Trek from Dobato to Ghandruk.
In the morning, after having breakfast, we will continue our return trail, ascending and descending through the valleys, forests, and villages. We will trace towards Tadapani. We will have lunch here. From Tadapani, we will continue to descend to a larger Gurung village called Ghandruk. Ghandruk also offers beautiful views of the mountains from 2000 m. The views are more stunning in the early morning. Not to miss it! We will call for the day here.
Day 11: Trek to Nayapul and drive to Pokhara.
Today is the last day of our trek. We will begin in the morning, after breakfast. Trekking from Ghandruk to Nayapul takes around 5 hours of walking, mostly downhill. Upon arrival at Nayapul, we will catch our vehicle and drive to Pokhara, 40 km, 1.5–2 hours. At Pokhara, we will check-in at the hotel and get some rest. Evening time can be spent walking along the bank of Fewa Lake. Overnight at the hotel in Pokhara.
Day 12: Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu.
We will get ready for our return drive to Kathmandu. The trip is going to be via the same route that we took earlier. 200 km, 6-7 hours via the Prithivi Highway, but this time we will head east. Lunch break en route the highway. Upon arrival at the hotel in Kathmandu, we will get some rest after check-in. Evening time can be spent strolling around the streets and getting a few souvenirs for dear ones back home. Overnight at the hotel in Kathmandu.
Day 13: End of Mohare Danda Khopra Community Trek.
Morning breakfast at the hotel. Prior to the departure schedule, our staff will drop you off at the airport for your onward flight. We bid you farewell and thank you for being with us while in Nepal.
