Itinerary

Day

Kathmandu Arrival.

The Everest Base Camp Trek and Bhutan day start today. When you arrive at Kathmandu airport, we will be there to pick you up and transfer you to the hotel. Once you reach and check into the hotel, you will have free time to relax so that you adjust yourself to Kathmandu atmosphere far away from your home.

Kathmandu – Lukla – Phakding.

We check out our hotel early in the morning and drive to the airport for the exciting flight to Lukla. We are taking a beautiful mountain flight to go to the Everest region on our Everest Base Camp

Trek and Bhutan Tour. This fantastic flight takes us into the Tenzing Hilary airport at Lukla to meet our trekking crew. Later, the adventure begins and our destination for the day is Phakding that is about four hours of walk. We settle into a tea house and enjoy the beauty of surroundings.

Phakding – Namche Bazar.

The second day of our adventure takes us into the Sagarmatha National Park. When we reach Monjo, we are required to check into the National Park security check post before trekking further ahead. After the process of checking in is done, we start walking towards Namche Bazar as our destination for the day. Namche Bazar is the most famous and a beautiful village in the Everest region. It is also an important commercial center of the area. Once we reach this beautiful Sherpa village, we can see a beautiful view of Thamserku. The luxury of our mountain guest house will make us feel comfortable even in the mountains.

Acclimatization Day.

We are already above 3,000 meters above sea level thus we will need a day of acclimatization here at Namche before continuing further higher on our journey. We will hike to Khumjung village as part of our acclimatization process. We explore Khumjung, one of the largest Sherpa villages in the region before returning back to Namche Bazar to stay overnight.

Namche Bazar – Tengboche.

We are trekking to Tengboche today through well-trodden mountain trails winding up and down through the mountain. We eventually arrive at Tengboche to enjoy the mountain and cultural wonders that the place is famous for. Tengboche is a Sherpa village that holds unique cultural and spiritual riches in addition to the breathtaking mountain views. The Tengboche monastery is a beautiful and important center of faith, for the local people, that projects their cultural and spiritual riches and lifestyle that they have been living for ages.

Tengboche – Dingboche.

The wonders of Everest Base Camp Trek and Bhutan Tour are unfolding every day as we go higher. The vastness of mountains is getting even vast and surroundings are getting even more peaceful and magnificent. We trek to Dingboche today. The trail passes through Diboche and Pangboche villages where some wonderful cultural riches of the region can be experienced. It’s a beautiful day of nature walk amidst the gigantic mountains. When we reach Dingboche, we will be at the elevation of 4,410 meters above sea level. It’s a pretty high elevation gain to experience the magnificence of the Himalayas. We will be soaking in the amazing mountain wonders as we settle into our accommodation luxury at Dingboche.

Acclimatization Day.

Another day of acclimatization is required here before traversing the trail further higher. This day will aptly prepare us for the next few days into the higher elevation. We will go for some side hiking excursion instead of sitting idle at Dingboche. Hiking to a higher altitude and descending to lower elevation to spend overnight helps in faster acclimatization. We will explore Chhukung valley as our day hiking trip for the day.

Dingboche – Lobuche.

On the eighth day of this adventure, we are heading higher towards Lobuche to stay overnight. We are traversing the trail that is full glacial moraine and boulders amidst the high Himalayan peaks. The walking progresses in slow and steady pace towards the destination with ample time to enjoy the surroundings along the trail. As we gain the elevation, we come across even more charming Himalayan landscapes to our sight. Eventually, we reach Lobuche to stay overnight.

Lobuche – Everest Base Camp – Gorakshep.

The adventure walk today takes us first to Gorakshep to settle into our lodge. We take lunch there and hike to the main destination of the trip that is Everest base camp. On a slow and gradual pace, we walk ahead towards the base camp of the highest mountain in the world. We follow boulder-strewn terrain to eventually reach the Everest base camp. We spend memorable moments there taking pictures and enjoying the joyous time. Later, we return back to Gorakshep to stay overnight.

Gorakshep – Kalapatthar – Thukla or till Pheriche.

We will hike to the highest elevation on this adventure. We will start on an early morning hike to Kalapatthar that stands at 5,445 meters above sea level. The viewpoint will bring us breathtakingly incredible views of the Mt. Everest and other mountain peaks up close. We return back to Gorakshep; take our breakfast and check out the lodge to trek all the way down to Thukla to stay overnight or we will walk down till Pheriche

Thukla – Phungi Thanga or Namche.

We continue on our return journey following the trekking trail towards Phungi Thanga as our overnight destination for the day. We traverse the peaceful trail as we trek towards the destination for the day. Phungi Thanga is a beautiful overnight place for the trekkers. Enjoy the surroundings of Phungi Thanga once we reach there or we will trek till Namche depending on our trekking speed.

Phungi Thanga – Phakding.

The 12 th day of Everest Base Camp Trek and Bhutan Tour itinerary takes us back to Phakding. Tracing the trail down along the Dudh Koshi River valley, we eventually reach Phakding to stay overnight.

Phakding – Lukla.

We are on the last day of trekking part on this journey. We are trailing back to Lukla as our destination for the day. We enjoy the last walking day in the mountain and nature. Once we reach Lukla, we settle into our lodge and relax to get rid of the tiredness of walking. We thankfully give farewell to the trekking support staffs for all their help in taking us to the Everest Base Camp and back safely.

Lukla – Kathmandu.

Another beautiful flight today will take us back to Kathmandu. Once we are in Kathmandu, we will have time to spend the relaxing time. Taking ample time to reflect on the moments that we spent in the mountains will help us get the memories well imprinted. We go for a typical Nepali cultural dinner in the evening.

Extra Day in Kathmandu.

Spend your free day here in Kathmandu preparing for Bhutan trip and relaxing the tiredness of trek. A full day in Kathmandu will fill you with enough energy to fly to and travel around in Bhutan.

Kathmnadu – Paro – Thimpu.

We will depart to the airport early in the morning to take our flight to Paro, Bhutan. This is an incredible trans-Himalayan flight that brings us a great chance to witness the grandeur of massive mountains from the air. Although we have already experienced the mountain madness on our trek to Everest Base Camp, beholding those giants from the air will be a completely different experience. We arrive at Paro and drive to Thimpu to stay overnight. Once we reach Thimpu and check into the hotel, we go to explore the surroundings of Thimpu. We visit Buddha Point also known as Kuensel Phodrang from where we can enjoy the spectacular view of Thimpu valley. Later, we will also visit Memorial Chhorten to see the devotion of people to the monument of peace; Takin preserve to explore the amazing national animal of Bhutan – Takin. Exploring Craft bazar, Tashi Chhoe Dzong etc. will leave majestic spell of Thimpu upon us.

Thimpu – Punakha.

On the second day of Bhutan part of exploration on Everest Base Camp Trek and Bhutan Tour itinerary, we drive to Punakha. While driving to Punakha, we cross Dochu La pass that stands at the elevation of 3,088 meters above sea level. When we are on the pass, we can enjoy spectacular views of beautiful mountains and surroundings. The view from here is simply breathtaking. Later, we explore majestic Punakha Dzong on the confluence of two rivers – Mochu and Phochu. This Dzong used to be the former administrative center of Bhutan. We will also explore Chhimi Lhakhang.

Punakha – Wangdoe Phodrang – Paro.

On our Bhutan exploration part, we are returning back to Paro today via Wangdoe Phodrang. We explore Wangdoe Phodrang before driving to Paro. We explore Wangdoe Phodrang Dzong and continue towards Paro to stay overnight.

Paro Exploration

We have a full day at Paro today to explore the Tiger’s Nest Monastery also called Taktshang Monastery. We drive to the bottom of the hill where the monastery is situated and start the hike up towards the awesome Tiger’s Nest. Tiger’s Nest Monastery hangs on the cliff right above Paro valley. In the ancient time, Guru Rinpoche is believed have arrived here on the back of a tigress and meditated. For Bhutanese people, this monastery is a must visit the place once in their lifetime. After the Taktshang Monastery exploration, we hike back and continue back towards Paro. We visit Kyichu Lhakhang along the way. This place is the ancient most Buddhist shrine in Bhutan as this is the place where the Buddhism in Bhutan is believed to have been started from. Today is the last day in Bhutan on this trip. We drive to the Paro Airport to board our flight back to Kathmandu. Another exciting trans-Himalayan flight takes us to Kathmandu, Nepal a few days of wonderful exploration of Bhutan. Once we reach Kathmandu and check into the hotel, we will have free time to explore around on our own. Once we return back to our hotel in Paro, we will have free time to walk around and explore.

Fly Back to Kathamndu.

Trip Info

Flight Delays and Cancellation for Everest Base Camp Trek and Bhutan Tour

Flight to and from Lukla sometimes may be delayed or canceled due to un flying weather conditions. Usually, flight to and from Lukla is delayed or canceled either heavy foggy Kathmandu or strong Himalayan wind at Lukla Airport.
Be assured that our airport representative and trekking guides and staffs in Lukla or Kathmandu will be doing everything possible to minimize the inconvenience caused by the weather. If this happens. Your patience and support in this hard circumstances will be greatly appreciated. If the flight to Lukla or Kathmandu is canceled more than 2 days to Lukla, we may change the itinerary for the betterment of the Trekking in Nepal or Alternatively, we may charter a chopper/helicopter at extra cost if you agree.

Luggage Weight for Bhutan

Bhutan Airline and Royal Bhutan Airline allow 20 Kgs weight limit for checked-in luggage per passenger traveling to Bhutan. In addition to this, another 8 Kgs hand carry is acceptable.
