In December 2009, the Swiss Ambassador to Nepal Thomas Gass inaugurated this trekking trail. While this trekking trail passes through seven northern village development committees of Kaski district. This trek goes through Tatopani of Sardikhola, Hile of Ghachowk, Rivan of Lahachowk, Lwang Ghalel and Milanchowk of Hemja.
The trekking trail passes through forests of flaming red rhododendrons and oak trees, past waterfalls and through villages comprising diverse ethnic groups, including Gurung, Tamang, Magar, Damai, Kami, Sarki, Chetri, Newar, and Brahmins.
Outsiders also get the opportunity to mingle with the residents of the villages of Dhital, Lwang-Ghalel, Rivan, Machhapuchhre, Ghachok and Laha Chowk. Further villages that have successfully preserved Gurung culture, art and handicrafts including Dhital, Sirubari, Ghalegaun, Armala, Lwang-Ghalel, make this trip even more fascinating.
